What is SharePoint
Organizations use Microsoft SharePoint to create websites. You can use it as a secure place to store, organize, share, and access information from any device. All you need is a web browser, such as Microsoft Edge, Internet Explorer, Chrome, or Firefox.
Why you still need Sharepoint (Blog by Greg Zelfond - good insights and a few of his reasons shown below)
- OneDrive is a personal repository for a given user, not a shared SharePoint resource, and definitely not a substitute for an Intranet.
- As projects come and go, Teams will be archived, and new Teams will be created, but Intranet is something permanent that will be there no matter what!
- Viva Connections is not a substitute for Intranet.
Major reasons for Sharepoint: A permanent location for information, information based on org chart and structure, gateway to other sites and teams, the go to site for reliable information, employee onboarding, and a place where everyone is welcome.
